Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking official stated the attack rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
